About My Work

I am a local artist based in Shipdham, Norfolk. I am continually inspired by my surroundings, whether it’s simply at home tending to my garden or out and about exploring this beautiful county with my family.
I work in a variety of media including the unique medium of encaustic wax which I also tutor. I also love to produce pet portraits in mixed media too!

All my artwork is expertly framed by my husband Marc here at Ivy Cottage Framing, ready for my many exhibitions and clients commissions. I am also a member of the professional group the Breckland Artists, and regularly exhibit with them across Norfolk.

'Charlie Cat' Pet Portrait - Client Testimonial.
" Thank you so much Emma & Marc for the fantastic drawing & framing of my pets portrait. Emma has done a wonderful job of capturing all the features that make Charlie cat unique & showing an exquisite eye for detail. - Becky

House Portrait - Client Testimonial.
Emma Wells breathes fresh new life into the concept of house portraiture cleverly using pen, brush, colour wash and ink, deftly applied in her unique style. I commissioned Emma to create her vision of my cottage.... and I wasn't disappointed. The result is a painting that is cheerful and bright and brings a smile to my face every time I pass it. You couldn't ask for more from a painting!" - Ted

I have just finished this pet portrait 'Gift Wrapped!' This is Charlie and he has been created using a variety of media, including watercolours, pastels and coloured inks. It was great fun producing such a colourful art work and I even included his little 'cat house' in the background of this picture.

Emma Wells Art

I wanted to create an encaustic wax painting this weekend but I was struggling to find a subject matter to spark my creative flow. I walked out of my back door into the garden only to find a beautiful green/blue dragonfly basking in the sun amongst my herbs! Inspired by this sighting I have created this image. ...

Emma Wells Art

I just wanted to show you my final finished encaustic wax artworks now they have been fully framed by Marc. I decided to keep it simple with grey frames that would work within a modern or traditional home. I have used a striped effect wooden frame for 'The Angler' Kingfisher picture and a slight driftwood feel for 'Reflections' the sea life picture. ...
